A little help, Mother Nature?

My first day back on skis in about 18 years. This was last year, at Keystone, the week after Christmas.
 Warming up at the Alpenstube
LUNCH was so delicious that I just made us a reservation for this year as a surprise for Nate.  It was one of the more memorable dining experiences of my life. The food, sure, but the slippers after a hard day of moguls in new boots? Positively amazing.

Tree skiing together. The kids were in ski school all day for 4 days and we got to ski and eat and explore all day like two kids.
We are surprising the kids with a trip to Keystone, leaving on Christmas Day. Their break starts this Friday and they are off for about 2.5 weeks, so taking a week to go up and get our ski legs under us before our first "real" trip seemed like a good idea. The problem? We have no snow. Like, scary no snow. If they don't record measurable snow before Midnight in Denver it is officially our longest streak without moisture, I think it will be 65 days? Great for my sun kissed cheeks and my happy hikes in warm December days....but not so much great for the economy or the earth or the leagues of people (like my brother) looking at the forecast and stressing out about all of the money they have already invested.....and little snow in the forecast.

We have a small system supposed to come through on Wednesday and hopes of a white Christmas with a Saturday storm system showing up....but the weather changes every 5 minutes out here. To further complicate things, we live in a "snow belt". Being south of Denver and up high (we live at 6500 feet), we have a completely different climate than Denver. We had storms last spring where we would have 7 inches of snow at home, and 6 miles away the kids were playing LAX on not only snow less, but DRY fields.  We had one storm early on (we missed it being in Hawaii) and not much more since.

Today I'm staying home all day ~ after a few weeks of being home, Nate heads out on his last trip of the year this morning. The kids only have 4 days of school left, two of which I will be there for in some capacity planning holiday parties (mmmm hmmm. Still haven't learned). That means that I have the house to myself for the next 2 full days while everyone else is occupied. This weekend I practiced 90 minutes of yoga both Saturday and Sunday, so today is all about extra hot chocolate, loud Christmas music, and being home ALL day getting organized and starting wrapping the presents that family has sent for the kids. I'm oddly excited about the idea of staying in pajamas all day long, resting my body, and organizing my environment after a busy weekend. I fell in love with the show "the Marvelous mrs Maisel".......its a must watch! It's a week till Christmas, may your heart be light.
