Cardio cleanse
After a weekend of too many very late nights and a lot of entertaining, I found myself again back at the beginning (does this sound familiar?) and hit up an all cardio morning to shake the cobwebs out, and a long, long nap. I'm still laying in bed waiting for the kids to wake up, and trying NOT to think about how this time next week I will be on the road, having already picked up Julia from preschool. The long luxurious afternoons I had slightly fantasized about really mean driving Jules to school at 12:30, driving home to put Luke on the bus (luckily right at our driveway) at 12:55, putting Jake in his crib, then unceremoniously yanking Jake out of bed at 2:50 to pick up Julia at 3. That part stinks. I'm still looking for a teen or someone to sit in my house every day from 2:45-3:15 so my sweet Jake could sleep in peace. No luck, so far.
Nate is out of town and I'm looking forward to a week of early nights and simple foods. I very much feel that we are ALL ready for back to school ~ after living through two very rainy days with the three kids I sense how much we are all chomping at the bit for more routine in our lives. Frankly, they are a bit sick of me and me of them. School is a welcome respite from long days or afternoons at the pool, of the endless loop of playground and park and play play play. We need a break from one another, and the excitement of some new friends, new teachers, new energy, and the excitement of learning new things.
I hope that everyones littles are having great first days this week. I'm on a mission to do some freezer cooking to load up Nate with easy options for the first few days after my surgery. I'm doing chili and meatballs and gravy for sure......anyone have any favorites that always are sure to please your kids? Care to share? Thanks in advance!

I don't do a whole lot of freezer cooking lately but you mentioned the two things I will do ahead of time. You can also transform your meatballs into burgers instead. Homemade chicken nuggets are good quick and easy for the kids too. I've been on a homemade popsicle kick lately though and they are easy to make and a great treat for the kids. Not a meal like you are looking for but a nice option with lots of healthy fruits/yogurt and no junk in them.
