Body By..................me.
I need to rant for a minute.
What the fuck is up with meal replacement? What is wrong with MEALS?
Is everyone really SO busy, or SO stupid, that they can't figure out how to eat, anymore? Do we really all need to eat out of a blender?
I can't open my facebook anymore without someone posting pictures of either themselves, or their fucking food in a blender, and telling me to buy shakeology or ViSalus, or someotherproduct.
Is anyone else experiencing this horrible trend amongst their facebook community, or is this just me?
I do not want to drink my meals, thank you. I do not want my children to sit down to a healthy breakfast, lunch or dinner while Mommy politely sips her poo colored shake. I do not care how my shake stacks up to a Starbucks Moccalattechinoburger, I do not drink a moccalattechinoburger for breakfast now, so that is a meaningless stat. I do not want to see photos of you posing awkwardly trying to look sexy and saying things like "My NEW BODY BY VI!!! THANKS TO VI I AM DOWN 23 LBS AND BACK IN MY SIZE 2 JEANS!" If I was proud of my weight loss or my jean size you can be damn sure I would not be giving some company credit for it, I would be giving my hard work and self determination credit for it! Vi didn't do those workouts, you moron! You did!
Arrrrrrrgh.
Rant over.
Thanks for listening. I'm off to eat some more real food. And I admit, I won't get any pleasure out of it when these poor people one day go back to eating real food and gain all the weight back........but I have to wonder why on earth they don't see the trap they are falling into?
ETA: I Hope this doesn't offend anyone who may be finding weightloss on one of those programs. I just don't buy that they offer ANY sort of long term solution, and I don't buy that, at the end of the day, they are anything but a sales pitch from a company looking to (and succeeding at!) making a buck off of you. And I admit, I feel like I do a good job of shielding myself from images that might make me vulnerable. Having had an eating disorder years ago, I protect myself. I don't read magazines which promote unhealthy body images, or watch TV shows which do. I don't do anything "diety". And so I admit, I react more strongly than most when I see people urging me, who does not need to lose weight, to join their weightloss crusade, on my facebook pages. Because it isn't healthy for me. So forgive my strong language and my strong reaction. I just don't think that it is necessarily responsible for everyone to be promoting weightloss in these ways.

Oh, I have seen several people post about ViSalus, but refused to see what it was about. I also refuse to make any dietary change that is not going to be sustainable in the long term. Like you said, I am not going to drink my meals. Or live on shelf-stable mystery meats (shudder). If one wishes to drink a meal a healthy shake, why not throw some real food in the blender instead of a weird powder? It's odd to me how anti-food we are these days. Weird chemicals and processing now taste "normal"...but yet our nation can't seem to make the connection between diet and health.
ReplyDeleteI will say that if it were a stepping stone to a healthier life, it would be great. But no one I have known to use diets like that have actually sustained their weightloss in such a manner or transitioned to something better. It's unfortunate.
ReplyDeleteHad minor oral surgery yesterday. 3 things were discovered: 1) I want my Mom if I am in pain. Still. 2) I really like to brush my teeth, here's to the inventor of the toothbrush. 3) I would. Go. Ballistic. If forced to consume all meals out of my fancy pants Vitamix.
ReplyDeleteAgreed 100%! Weight loss is 85% what and how much of what you put in your mouth. The other 15%....go out and bust a sweat. Not only will your weight be affected, so will your CV systems, muscles, bones, etc. There is no magic powder or stuff you sprinkle on your cheesesteak that will make you lose weight.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Poo colored lunch had me cracking up!
