Dog days of summer, indeed! It feels like we should be at the beach enjoying summer vacation....yet Friday night we were out and I was wearing jeans, boots and a sweater by dinner time!
Lexi Thompson gave a golf exhibition and then talked to the girls, answering questions and talking about what its like being the #2 player in the world. She's only 22 years old (she turned professional at 15) and incredibly inspiring. She credits her two brothers with pushing her to be a better golfer ~ sounds a lot like a little girl I know.
The event was sponsored by The First Tee, and all of the girls got to meet Lexi, lunch was provided, and t shirts were given out. Such a fun day for Julia and her (one!) girlfriend from school who plays golf. I'm grateful for the role model that Lexi is and we will all be rooting her on next week in the Solheim Cup.

It was an oddly quiet weekend. I think that everyone is gathering wagons here during this first weekend of the school year. Soccer is about to hit (with force) and its like everyone is simply waiting to see what the fall schedule is going to be like. Friday golf was great. I feel like I'm finally hitting my stride after all of the missed play between moving and our course being closed from August1-April 1 of this year. I've taken to walking our course whenever I play. Its mountain golf, at 7,000 feet elevation. By the end of a round it works out to be about a 6 mile walk, while carrying your clubs, of course. Its a great workout!

Friday night we went to a First Friday event and then out to dinner at Sienna. Saturday I got up early for a Peloton ride, while Nate had a stag golf tournament. We had grand plans to play as a family last night but got lightening'd out on the second hole. We ended up exploring downtown Littleton, where the Yard House had a band playing in the town square. Dinner at Smoking Fins was an unexpected treat, the food was better than I had hoped for! While most everything is better in Colorado ~ the weather, the outdoor life, the nature, the people, the lifestyle....the FOOD is not better. I'm shocked to find it, but at least out here in the suburbs, its a bit of a food wasteland. There is a LOT of food, just not very much good food. Finding out how much Colorado folks like their big box gyms (24 hour fitness is huge out here) corporate yoga (CorePower or YogaPod everywhere) and chain restaurants was a bit surprising to me. We continue to persevere in trying to find places that we enjoy,  but I can tell you that my kids are growing up with a very different food culture than I did. We did make some good friends like us ~ Italian wife and transfer from the NorthEast.....planning on the first annual 7 fish dinner this year :) We can't throw all of that good food culture away!

Today I'm up for a 75 minute yoga class, then we are planning to play 18 holes at 2:30. Cedar planked salmon for dinner and an early night in bed as I have to carpool at 6:15 am again to get down to the AirForce Academy. I'm excited to play the course and honored to get to visit the Academy.
