A day of rest.

After Bikram on Saturday I woke up on Sunday feeling distinctly sore, something that I haven't felt in quite a while. My shoulders were hurting in the same way that they had been a few months back when I had been doing my chaturangas incorrectly. I wen't to Sues level three class on Sunday morning, which is a real humdinger. We had a great family day yesterday, watching football, playing games, and eating well. The kids had off of school today for MLK day, so my usual level 1 with Sue was out.

I had been planning on going to the 75 minute power vinyasa flow class......but with still sore shoulders and the kids off of school I just felt this pang of guilt about dragging them to the gym on a day off of school. Instead we hit a matinee, seeing The Nut Job, and I gave my body a full day of rest. I even threw in a nap for good measure.

Resting is not my strong suit, but it IS an important part of practice, as respecting and honoring your body is a key component of yoga, of wellness, of health. Today, a rest.

Tomorrow comes snow. I admit that the idea of another two days in the house does NOT sound delightful to me at the moment....so thinking good thoughts for perhaps somehow only one snow day out of all this? Because Sunday through Wednesday in the house with no yoga and Nate out of town will surely have me like this.
